Final post Nick Reuter
My apologies for not posting this earlier this morning, I've been traveling and haven't had the chance to post. Overall, I felt that this project was very successful and I am highly pleased with the end result. I feel like the group evolved a lot as musicians through our foray into the realm of jazz fusion composition. The song was much more musically dynamic and complex than anything we have done before and I appreciated the opportunity to allocate class time to complete the project. I feel it would be very worthwhile to do the google project next year to continue and expand upon our jazz fusion group work in the future, I had a great time and learned a lot.

11/27/12 Nick Reuter
On Tuesday's Google Day, we worked with Walsh to finalize our song and consult his musical expertise to help us improve it. We added several new sections to the song including a bass solo, and alto sax solo, and a guitar solo. We will be recording most likely this weekend and into next week in Walsh's newly sound-engineered recording room at his house. We will record each part individually and then layer the recordings on top of each other for the sake of efficiency.

Google Day 11/9- Nick Reuter
On Friday's Google Day we used the general song "riff" we had finalized before, but we started to work on the organization aspect, putting the structure of the song down on paper. We also worked through some more in-depth details of the song, such as some of our ideas for bass/guitar solos. Over the Thanksgiving break we will work on some saxophone leads we could add in and hopefully move into the recording stage.
Google day 11/9- Jonathan
We for the last google day, we worked on finalizing the order of the song and putting together the little sections that we had before into a song, now all that's left is to jam with Mike, our drummer who is doing another project, and record it at mikes house.
Im looking forward to it

This Friday, we made huge progress. Nick and I figured out our own little riff that will go in between each "verse." I put the that in quotation marks because I don't know if it really is a verse. We are doing more of an instrumental type of song rather than a lyrical based one so our song is structured very different. After we figured out everything that's actually going into the song, we started to put it all together.

Google Day 10/23
We now have a confirmed direction and chord progression we will be working off of, and it is in the funk/jazz genre. We will be incorporating numerous different jazz-related elements in our song to push the boundaries of what we've traditionally been able to do in terms of writing music. Expect to see key changes, complex jazz rhythms, guitar and saxophone leads, slap bass solos, and other more musically advanced ideas in our song. We will begin to work with Mike who will be drumming for us, and helping us record, in the coming weeks. It's been really fun to see where this project is headed and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Expect great things.

Google Day 10/23 Danny Hong
Sorry for the late post. I'm not sure what happened two days ago: Nick, JG and I were jamming in our practice room and I put my blog post in from there. Apparently, as Nick pointed out later, the ethernet connection was down or something and it never came through.
Anyways, we experimented with some jazz and and a little funk. Travis was our consult at that time and was our vocal during our jam session. If we can't find a vocalist in a few weeks, I think we will just have him sing for us. I think we were overall successful in getting a full song together. In a few weeks time, we may have to start recording and editing. That's where Mike comes in.

Google day 10/23 Jonathan Griffiths
Today we jammed more in class, we have a pretty solid base for the song. I have a rhythm part, Danny has his bassline and nick has his lead part, but we need to work out specifics and add to the song.
We hope to be done with the song in a few weeks so we can talk to our friend and drummer Mike about recording

My apologies for the late post... Jonathan Griffiths
I was out of town all weekend looking at colleges, and so I missed the last Google day and was unable to make a post until now.
Even though I missed the Google day, I hear it was productive, and I have been spending time on my guitar coming up with different things that we might use.
That's all

Google Dya 10/5 Nick Reuter
The Google day on Friday the 5th of October was primarily used for experimenting with potential directions we could go in terms of genre and creating some riffs to go along with it. I found a few good jazz/funk based riffs we could use. It is apparent, however, that this year our final product will be more musically complex and compelling than last year.

Yesterday, due to some instrumental difficulties, Nick and I had to improvise a little bit to make everything work out well. Jonathon wasn't able to make it as we was driving up to Vancouver with his aunt. And so, just Nick and I did a mostly jazz improvisational music during our google day. I thin kwe can now say that we have expanded our borders since last year, which was our goal. I hope to continue down this path, but so far, who knows?

Appoligies for the late post- Jonathan Griffiths
My post was a bit late as we were working out some technical difficulties...
We have not started to jam yet, but we are working towards deciding what genre of music we are going to be doing this year. We are thinking something more towards funk/towards the 2nd part of our song from last year, rather than the generic indie rock sound the first half of our song had.
We (Danny Nick and I) will be writing the song, then our drummer who isnt in our group will record a drum track and we will go from there.
I hope this project turns out good this year.

We will be continuing on the project concept from last year. This year however, because we have acquired an entire year of additional musical knowledge and wisdom, we will move into a more complex and musically technical direction. We have yet do decide on what exactly that will look like, but rest assured that the music will be more dynamic than the product of the Indie Rock project 1.0 that we did last year.
